Director of Business Development (Traveling - KS / MN)

Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and driven individual to join our team as the Business Development Director. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing and executing our sales strategy, driving growth, and making a significant impact on our success.

As the Business Development Director, you will be responsible for developing and executing the sales strategy in alignment with our short-term and long-term business plans. You'll have the opportunity to build strong relationships with target customers, identify new opportunities, and grow our project pipeline. Reporting directly to the Vice President & General Manager, you'll be at the forefront of driving our business forward.

This role requires frequent travel that varies from 50-75%. Essential Responsibilities: • Sales Strategy Development: Assist in developing annual and long-term sales strategies aligned with business plans.

Relationship Building: Forge long-term relationships with target customers to support sales strategies.

Networking: Establish formal and informal networks to gain insight into future project opportunities.

Promotion: Attend various events to promote, including customer lead events and industry-specific gatherings.

Customer Interface: Interface with customers during the initial phases of projects to ensure satisfaction and escalate concerns to senior leadership when necessary.

Reporting: Regularly report on the status of the sales strategy and maintain the opportunity pipeline using Microsoft Dynamics.

Market Analysis: Collaborate with corporate resources to review market data and competitor activities, providing insights to senior management.

Pipeline Management: Manage the sales pipeline, including opportunities, bids, and proposals, and provide input on pipeline status and business impact to senior management.

   

Job Requirements / Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Understanding of substation construction projects and the overall power delivery market.
  • Knowledge of substations, switchyards, transmission lines, and associated equipment.
  • Knowledge of power delivery market trends and growth strategies.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment; capable of adjusting priorities.
  • Proven track record of developing customer relationships and closing deals.
  • Ability to create and maintain sales metrics.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Dynamics as a CRM.
Education and Experience

  • B.S. in Construction Management, any Engineering discipline, Business Management, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years in power delivery business development.
  • Prior project management experience preferred.
