Role: Relay Technician
Location: Portland
Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 plus benefits

Background:
Our client, a well-established multi-state organization specializing in commercial and industrial services, is seeking a skilled NETA/NICET III Technician to join their team. The company operates across multiple sectors, including electrical services, hazardous waste disposal, and environmental solutions. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform acceptance and maintenance testing on power distribution systems, including circuit breakers, transformers, cables, and distribution gear.
  • Operate test equipment to assess the condition of electrical systems.
  • Train and mentor entry-level technicians on proper testing procedures and equipment use.
  • Work independently and take initiative, ensuring tasks are completed with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility in work hours, with the possibility of after-hours and weekend work as required by client needs.
  • Travel to and from client sites, occasionally requiring travel to remote locations for up to two weeks at a time.
  • Maintain a drug-free status and comply with all company policies and safety protocols.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, establishing strong professional relationships with clients.

Education & Experience Requirements
  • NETA Level 3 certification or equivalent experience in testing electrical systems such as circuit breakers, transformers, and grounding systems.
  • Experience with protective relay testing is highly desirable.
  • A degree in electrical engineering or industrial electronics is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and test equipment software.
  • Thorough understanding of electrical theory, power distribution systems, and components.
  • Ability to work safely and understand electrical hazards.
  • Excellent communication and customer relations skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions
  • Ability to move about job sites and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasionally required to ascend/descend ladders or stairs.
  • Prolonged periods of standing or remaining stationary may be required.
  • Regular use of computers and other technology for testing and reporting.
  • Must be adaptable to varying jobsite environments and conditions.
