Electrical Estimator - Houston, TX
Job description
Primary Functions: Prepare portions of contract proposal estimates for any discipline. Perform take-offs on systems, material and equipment according to applicable project plans and specifications.

- Prepare proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and
required contents of estimate. - Attend pre-bid meetings and/or tour job sites to confirm requisite take-offs.
- Prepare estimates by calculating complete take-off of scope of work, using
FastPIPE or FastDUCT or McCormick and/or ConEst(Intellibid) estimating software. - Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including
information on pricing from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures,
price lists, software uploads, etc. - Support other department personnel as required; may include preparing
estimates in other disciplines. - May review design options and recommend best solution based on cost,
engineering quality, or availability of materials. - May provide support to field operations regarding MEP estimates.
- Understanding and interpretation of current NEC chapters 1 & 2.
- Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.
Qualifications:
- High school degree or equivalent; some technical training or advanced education preferred
- At least 5 years estimating, controls and/or engineering experience related to mechanical construction
- Proficiency with FastPIPE and/or FastDUCT or similar estimating software
- Working knowledge of multiple disciplines, estimating techniques and cost control
- Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems
- Ability to perform detailed work and successfully meet deadlines
